salmon skys.

Walking,

She looks up at the salmon sky.

As it stares back at her

She imagines herself

Swimming,

Against the current.

The cool liquid brushes against her skin

She remembers herself

Running,

Through fields of flowers,

Grass as tall as she;

It sways in the light breeze.

Out of breath;

Tired of leaving what’s behind

She stands still,

Her heart that once raced

Now slows to the beat of her watch.

Her gaze returns to the once salmon sky,

Now turned lilac.
